Each of the district has one Zakat Committee which is notified by the Provincial Zakat Council
Composition
The composition of the committee is as follows:
- A Chairman to be nominated by Provincial Zakat Council.
- 5 Members to be nominated by Provincial Zakat Council in consultation with Chairman, District Zakat Committee.
- Two women from within District not less than 45 years of age.
- District Zakat Officer (ex-officio Member/Secretary)
Functions
The committee performs the below mentioned functions:
- Disbursement of Zakat fund at district level
- Prepare and maintain accounts
- Constitution of Local Zakat Committees in the respective district
- Arrange audit of the Local Zakat Funds in the district
